Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival’s Brooklyn Neighborhood Documentaries Project



The Brooklyn neighborhood documentaries project of the Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival is designed to help create documentaries about Brooklyn’s neighborhoods and communities. Through the documentaries made in many parts of Brooklyn people will be to learn about the range of cultures, unique qualities, and histories of Brooklyn’s neighborhoods and communities that make up Brooklyn’s distinct charachter.

The Brooklyn neighborhoods documentaries series will be screened locally at first and then selected documentaries from each participating Brooklyn neighborhood and community will be shown at a finale screening.

The Brooklyn neighborhoods documentaries project will help to find sponsorship for training in video production for eligible novice filmmakers. Please review guidelines for eligibility for sponsorship listed below.

The Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival hopes to bring greater understanding between Brooklyn residents about their fellow Brooklyn residents through the Brooklyn neighborhood documentaries project. Ultimately the larger goal of the Brooklyn documentaries project is to promote knowledge and understanding about each other’s Brooklyn communities and neighborhoods through the medium of documentaries and communication.

Guidelines for Sponsored Video Production Training


* Filmmakers applying for video production training need to be Brooklyn residents.

* The applicants for the sponsored training are required to submit a written proposal describing their Brooklyn neighborhood documentary.

* Applicants for the sponsored program will need to be available for meetings and additional training other than video production as part of their project development program.
